This is a painting of the tiny burial plot on a hill behind my wife’s granny’s house in the deep hills of Eastern Kentucky. I love the muted colors, the off-kilter Mary statue, the castaway plastic flowers, the untended grass. It’s a painting that carries a lot of pathos for me.
