This piece is obviously a bit of a departure for me, but I have wanted to paint it for a long time. It has what I'm always looking for in image, which is emotion, pathos -- the loneliness of the open road, the bareness of the trees, the grit, the emptiness, the weariness of dawn, the sleeping trucks, the foothills of the Funeral Range, and neon blaring into the endless spaces of the Great American Desert. Oh, and it's a nice composition.
